Mouthguard

The Windows app
that digitizes mouthguard models

Taking mouthguards to the next, technological level.

The Mouthgurad Challenge Summarized

Dental injuries are among the most common types of injuries sustained during sports participation. Notably, an athlete is 60 times more likely to endure damage to the teeth when not wearing a mouthguard.
The challenge with mouthguards is that they are not one-size-fits-all. Wearing an uncomfortable mouthguard that is too bulky or too loose will not keep you adequately protected. Only custom mouthguards, made for your individual mouth structure, give you the protection and comfort you need when playing high-impact sports.

The Vision Behind the App

The company’s vision was to provide athletes in high-impact sports with the best possible protection for their teeth and gums. The mouthguard app was to be developed to digitize the process of creating this dental modeling software and replace the traditional methods used in creating molds of teeth. They turned to Scopic to develop the app that would both ensure the accuracy of dental impressions and help create custom-fit mouthpieces.

The Scopic Solution

Our software experts built a Windows desktop application from scratch to digitize the process of generating a mouthguard model. Using C++ and QT technologies, we developed the app for internal use. It is powered through the main database located in the company’s central server. We also made it possible for the final model to be exported as an STL file and its coordinates as a CSV file.

This powerful software is designed to scan the individual’s mouth, providing exact measurements for a precise, custom-fit mouthguard ‒ protecting athletes’ teeth and gums during high-impact sports.
